The story of Magnificent 6

The story of Magnificent 6

The pursuit of the idea and conversion of the dream into the reality started in early spring of 2022 – so it was more than two years ago when the idea of creating our glasses first came to mind. When the spark lit the fire, the author of these lines literally had two sleepless nights trying to put a frame around the concept that was racing through his head. It felt like a mosh pit – full of joy, energy and excitement! That was a sign it had to be done!

First it really took a while to sort out the legal and bureaucratic technicalities (just a tad bit boring:) because the love of beer and rock ‘n’ roll kinda doesn’t have much in common with those, and there was a steep learning curve ahead (true for a lot of other stuff too). There were also some black holes in our journey where other stuff took precedence (luckily it was music related so that helped)… However, we were determined and passionate about it from day one, so here we are now and hell yeah – we’re honored to have such an amazing opportunity!

Ah, the drawings… it took about 5 months with some minor breaks for original drawings to be completed. It was all hand drawn and then traced and colored with black markers. Countless photocopies were made to play with the variations. We’re proud of the original artwork and that it hasn’t even crossed our mind to use AI or something similar because we believe it’d take away from the soul of the whole idea.

Some characters ended up being discarded in the process – the original singer, lead guitarist (see below) and solo guitarist all got reimagined. It was that we wanted the best possible fit – and you know how it goes in a band with lineup changes. Also, some additions were made only when it was almost all done. As you can see below, the bassist did not have the cameraman in the background and the solo guitarist did not have a tattoo.  However, as it goes with art, once certain images start living in your mind it only does ‘em justice to bring them into existence…

One of the last little details that was added to the soloist was his right arm tattoo. We initially thought he was completely done, however, as stated before, once it’s envisioned it has to be done! The original drawing of the tattoo was more than twice the size of a tall boy. It’s kinda huge but it had to be done that way in order to achieve the desired effect and preserve the sharpness once it got scaled down to the size of the soloist and then the glass. Same reason why number 61 on the tattoo had to be large enough on the original drawing.

Getting the drawings done was a huge milestone in the process. It included a lot of printing on the yellow paper that was used to simulate beer:)

After the drawings finally got completed, the next step was to digitalize them in order to iron out all the necessary details (fuzzy lines, uneven color intensity etc.) so that they’re ready for printing onto the glasses without hiccups. Next, some testing was done, and we received great news that a prototype was ready few months ago. Yeah, it absolutely took a while but hey – “It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll”!
